WASHINGTON, D.C., August 21, 2013—The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) today announced that Jonah Berger, Ph.D., author of the New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller, "Contagious: Why Things Catch On," will speak at The Conference: CRN’s Annual Symposium for the Dietary Supplement Industry, taking place at the Montage Deer Valley in Park City, Utah, in September.
Dr. Berger is the James G. Campbell associate professor of marketing at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania where he studies social influence and social epidemics, or how products, ideas, and behaviors catch on. He has published dozens of articles in top-tier academic journals, and popular accounts of his work have appeared in places like The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Science, Harvard Business Review, Wired, BusinessWeek, and Fast Company. His research has also been featured in The New York Times Magazine’s annual “Year in Ideas” issue.
“If you’ve ever wondered just what it is that makes something popular or ‘go viral,’ capturing the attention of millions, you won’t want to miss Dr. Berger at The Conference,” said Steve Mister, president and CEO, CRN. “He’ll share groundbreaking research and powerful stories from his book including the secret science behind word-of-mouth and social transmission and basic principles that drive things to become contagious.”
The Conference takes place Sept. 18–21, and is presented in tandem with The Workshop: CRN’s Day of Science, Sept. 18. There are four flexible registration options available, and this year CRN has three hotel room blocks. The Montage Deer Valley is the event host hotel where the sessions will take place and the Stein Eriksen Lodge and The Chateaux are located 10 minutes away with regular shuttles available. Registrants should book early, as space is very limited.
