Washington, D.C., February 18, 2014—The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN), the dietary supplement industry’s leading trade association, today announced it is a promotional partner for the New York Academy of Sciences (NYAS) conference, “Clinical and Economic Outcomes of Nutrition Interventions Across the Continuum of Care,” to be held March 13 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C. The conference, sponsored by The Sackler Institute for Nutrition Science and the Abbott Nutrition Health Institute, will focus on malnutrition’s clinical and economic impacts of prevention across the continuum of care; new approaches and interventions to integrated care; and a health systems approach to delivery of nutrition interventions. More information is available at: www.nyas.org/NutritionInterventions.
“CRN is pleased to support NYAS in its efforts to further the understanding of nutritional science among key stakeholders,” said Duffy MacKay, N.D., senior vice president, scientific and regulatory affairs, CRN. “We continue to learn more every day about the important role of nutrition in good health, and CRN appreciates NYAS’ approach to gather together scientists to consider not only the health consequences of malnutrition, but also the economic impact of nutrition as part of an integrative approach to prevention.”
CRN has a keen interest in the economics of nutrition health, particularly in light of a recently released economic report from Frost & Sullivan, supported through a grant from the CRN Foundation, showing that supplementation at preventive intake levels in high-risk populations can result in societal and individual health care cost savings. The report is available at: www.supplementforsmartprevention.org.
Said Dr. MacKay, “I look forward to attending this upcoming conference along with other nutrition and health system researchers and practitioners, economists and policymakers to hear about emerging research on the economics of nutrition health.”
