CRN Welcomes New Vice President, Quality and Technical Affairs

Washington, D.C., July 28, 2016—The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN), the leading trade association for the dietary supplement industry, today announced that Gisele Atkinson has joined the association as the vice president, quality and technical affairs, a new position in the association’s science and regulatory department.

For the past seven years, Ms. Atkinson worked as the quality assurance and quality control director for Renew Life Formulas Inc. Prior to that, she spent three years as the quality control manager for New Chapter, Inc., where she was a member of the management team that ensured the overall quality performance of the company and the safe operation of the work place.

“We are very excited to have Ms. Atkinson on board at CRN.  She brings a very specific skill set to our association, one that will further enhance our already strong reputation in the areas of science and regulation,” said Steve Mister, president and CEO, CRN. “As our industry continues to raise the bar on quality, Gisele will be a welcome addition not only to CRN’s members, but as a leader for the greater good of the industry.”

Ms. Atkinson’s expertise in quality control, quality assurance and research, as well as her hands-on experience at dietary supplement and food companies, will provide CRN members with another valuable association resource. She has overseen direct process and product testing protocols that ensure quality standards, developed internal and external quality control structure, and served as the primary quality resource for problem identification, resolution and continuous improvement.

Earlier in her career, as the quality assurance manager, she managed all vitamins and mineral supplement regulatory activities for SwissCaps Inc. In addition, she served as a quality control microbiologist at NBTY Rexall Sundown where she performed qualitative and quantitative analysis on raw materials, in-process and finished dietary supplements.

Ms. Atkinson has a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology with a minor in Biotechnology from University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada.
